About Sun Center
SUN CENTER is the Official and Parent organization of the Impersonal Life Teachings. It is a spiritual organization created in loving response to the call of the Brotherhood of Christ by a group of dedicated students who have been silently practicing the Impersonal Life Teachings for years.
The Impersonal Life Teachings were first introduced to the world by Our Brother Joseph S. Benner in 1914 in his first book, The Impersonal Life. This seminal publication presented the Impersonal Message in its purest form, simple enough to be understood by the average reader. It was then followed by many other Impersonal Messages: Wealth, The Teacher, Brotherhood, The Way Out, The Way Beyond, The Way to the Kingdom, and Sun Papers. His decision to remain anonymous in all his writings was grounded on a staunch commitment to draw the reader to the Impersonal Life Teachings and to their True Source, rather than to himself as the Open Door for these works. It was only after his passing in 1938 that his identity as the author of these books was revealed to the public.
Today, Sun Center seeks to continue the work of Joseph Benner. With seeming chaos and confusion accompanying the many changes and the fast pace of the outer world, the need is even greater now than it was back then. All earnest and sincere people feel that there is something more to this experience of the outer world, and as such, are trying to find a definite source on which they can rely as the “final authority” on life and its uncertainties and problems.
As the Anonymous Author said:
“As has been taught in the little book, The Impersonal Life, there is only one final authority for every man on all questions, and that is the I AM, the Holy Spirit of God in man—that power that is the life and intelligence within him, and which from the beginning has caused him to do all that he does and to become what he is today.
“Many thousands of students have become conscious of and are being directed by this Divine Power within themselves through the help of the teachings in The Impersonal Life, and not a small number are now able to hear Its Voice, are being guided by It, and are definitely obeying It as It speaks from out the heart. But in order to make the message of this little book more far-reaching, and available to all seekers on every stage of the Path, especially to those not yet capable of fully understanding and following the directions in the book, a system of Spiritual Instruction and guidance has been created upon the foundation laid by the truths in its message, that more completely fills the needs of the earnest seeker, no matter on what stage he may be at this time.”
Sun Center has been holding annual events called Large Classes and Special Annual Course Retreats. In these activities, further advanced training and disciplining of the mind, unfolding the nature of the soul, and the conscious demonstration of the power of the Divine Spirit within are discussed, so that students can have a thorough understanding of the Impersonal Life Teachings and become conscious workers of Christ.

• Thanksgiving Class
• Christmas Class
• The Way Out Course
• The Way Beyond Course
• The Mind Course
• The Soul Course
• The Spirit Course
The Sun Center Impersonal Life Teachings are also practiced by serious and sincere students in the weekly Impersonal Life Study Group Meetings held in various Sanctuaries. Here, they can come to participate, practice, train, and discipline their mind through the first degree of Study Group Meeting, the Right Meditation; the second degree, the Right Study; and the third degree, the Right Service, based on the Impersonal Life Teachings.
These three degrees are prerequisites which orient the students with the different levels of instruction of Impersonal Truth and prepares them for the Large Classes and Special Retreats, and the greater outpouring of the Brotherhood of Christ; and grounds them in a deeper knowledge and realization of the Impersonal Life Teachings, thus becoming more effective Christ Workers.
Individual students who have been practicing the Impersonal Life Teachings are urged to intensify their efforts in their daily individual applications of the Teachings because of the global need, until the inner pattern is built, where Aspirants will form naturally into Groups, and link and bind them for meditation and service. Each Group will thus be a Chalice, serving as a cup or reservoir into which will be poured all the Love and Wisdom of the Master and of the Great Brotherhood, and which will flow—as water flows through an open faucet—to each Aspirant for use in Service, as they consciously connect with the Brotherhood of which they are a part.
It has been recommended by Joseph S. Benner that Study Groups be established in every city.
“If there are several Groups working as one in a city, the greater is their power for good. If there are many Groups in a state, it can likewise be cleansed of any wrong condition by all Groups working as one to that end. And in this beloved country of ours, were the hundreds of Groups in this Work to combine to bring about a condition of righteousness, do you now begin to see what can be accomplished? And this Work will extend to other countries, and in time, as it proceeds and grows, enough Groups will be in existence so that when all are ready and the Word is given by our Beloved Master, Christ Jesus, the whole world can be changed in the twinkling of an eye, even as He has promised.” – 1934
